Once there was a little dog who lived in the railyard.

Each day, he crossed the railyard from his hole under a shed to a restaurant that put food out for him.

One day, though, the yard was very busy, and the little dog was having a hard time crossing over between the dangerous trains.

Finally, he decided to make a run for it!

He ran and ran, dodging the wheels, ducking in front of the engines!  Finally, he had almost made it, he mistimed, and a train ran over the tip of his tail, snipping it off clean as a whistle.

The little dog yelped, and whirled around to snap at the wheel...just as the next wheel came along, and lopped his head off.

And the moral of this story is one many, many people should learn much earlier than they do.  It is such a simple lesson:  Don't lose your head over a piece of tail.
